Vancouver  Pro  Musica  is  a  non-profit  society  whose  primary  mission  is  to  support  BC  composers and Sonic Boom is its  premier  concert  event.  Sonic Boom is an annual four-day music festival that celebrates the new music of BC composers, with a particular focus on emerging composers and the inclusion of a great diversity of compositional styles and practices. This  year  the  Sonic  Boom  Festival is  happening  from April  8th  to  11th, 2010 at the Western Front located at 303 East 8th Avenue Vancouver, British Columbia. This year’s composer in residence for the festival is Janet Danielson (music instructor at Simon Fraser University) who is the facilitator/moderator of the reading session. Orchestra Armonia is the ensemble in residence for Sonic Boom 201O and will be rehearsing nine new compositional works from BC composers at this reading session. Orchestra Armonia is Vancouver`s newest string ensemble presenting concerts dedicated to the core string repertoire and other exciting works. Led by John van Deursen, this ensemble is comprised of fresh and enthusiastic young professional string players.  Composers of the pieces will be in attendance at the reading session.
